Description
The Public Affairs Committee and its partners, The Night Ministry and WTTW11, invite you to attend a special cocktail reception, advance screening of, and panel discussion about “The Homestretch,” the new documentary by Anne de Mare & Kirsten Kelly, with the award-winning filmmakers at Kartemquin Films.
This compelling film follows the lives of three smart, ambitious, homeless youths in Chicago – Kasey, Anthony, and Roque – who surprise, challenge, and inspire viewers to rethink stereotypes of homelessness as they work to complete their education, graduate, and build a future while facing the trauma of being alone and abandoned at an early age. Through haunting images, intimate scenes, and first-person narratives, these teens take us on their journeys of struggle and triumph. In the process, they connect us to the larger issues facing today’s society and the youth who are its future. A panel discussion with the filmmaker and sponsors follows the screening.
The evening begins with registration at 5:30 p.m. and the formal program at 6:00 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash/signature bar will be available. Dress code: Business casual; no denim or athletic wear, please. The cost of the event is $25 per person (inclusive of tax and gratuity). For more information, please contact the Public Affairs office at (312) 435-5946.
